The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) has announced the availability of grant funding to support the implementation of source water protection plans. Grants are available to community and nontransient noncommunity public water supply systems who have an MDH-approved Wellhead Protection Plan, or MDH-endorsed intake protection plan. The purpose of this funding is to help public water suppliers implement source water protection measures included in their WHP plan.

There is a total of $125,000 in funding available for these grants. The minimum amount for any grant is $1,000 and the maximum amount is $10,000. The cap amount will be increased up to a maximum grant amount of $30,000 if three or more public water suppliers apply jointly.

MDH will accept grant applications from March 1 until 4:30 p.m. on March 30.

More information about the grant, including eligibility requirements and how to apply, can found here.
