Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Minnesota Environmental Science & Economic Review Board’s (MESERB) 2025 Summer Conference! It was great to see wastewater professionals from across the state come together to exchange ideas and support the research, study, and analysis of water quality issues important to Minnesota communities.
At this year’s MESERB Summer Conference, we brought the outside in (quite literally!) with surprise appearances from a red squirrel and a few curious wasps.
Cooper Silburn and Daniel Marx kicked things off with a legal and regulatory update covering MESERB’s key issue areas, followed by Elizabeth Wefel’s recap of an eventful legislative session. Tracy Ekola, Vice President at Brown & Caldwell, provided an insightful discussion of CMAR and its role in wastewater projects compared to more well-known project models, such as design-build and design-bid-build. We were also joined by MPCA staff for a robust presentation and discussion on agency progress and regulatory developments related to MESERB’s top priorities, including PFAS, nitrogen, and sulfate. To close out the event, Alexandra Campbell-Ferrari, Executive Director of the Center for Water Security and Cooperation, presented on the Center’s work to create a Mississippi River Compact and the opportunities for local leaders to help shape water policy solutions for the region.
Thursday evening wrapped up with a bonfire at the resort, complete with s’mores and a glowing full moon. We’re already looking forward to seeing you all at the Fall Conference!
