Henry Croll, a Water & Wastewater Engineer at Stantec and researcher in the Stantec Institute for Water Technology & Policy Stantec, presented on PFAS prevalence in wastewater and biosolids at the MESERB Fall Conference on Wednesday.
Henry also discussed biosolids treatment opportunities in the context of regulatory requirements and available technologies. His presentation illuminated the interesting dynamics at play in the treatment of PFAS at wastewater treatment plants. Members learned about how PFAS precursors received through influent at wastewater treatment plants can chemically change into various PFAS compounds through the treatment process, therefore creating the appearance that these facilities are sources of PFAS.
